One of National Geographic’s Unique Lodges of the World, Mashpi Lodge is amongst the most incredible destinations you can visit.
At Mashpi Lodge, there’s never a lack of things to do….
A favorite activity among guests is to head down the trails that lead you to Mashpi’s majestic, nearby waterfalls. Our Magnolia trail is one such example, giving you a stunning view of the reserve as you descend downhill. The culmination of this particular walk is a refreshing and invigorating dip in the Magnolia waterfall itself!
This is the perfect complement to any of our expeditions at Mashpi Lodge. The Dragonfly is an exciting, open-air cable car system carries you over, across, and sometimes even directly through the forest canopy. This activity is often touted as the highlight of any visit to Mashpi and will offer you the opportunity to get a bird’s eye view of the reserve.
A tandem bicycle that takes you on a tour through the jungle canopy, offering a truly unparalleled bird’s-eye view of the cloud forest as well as the rivers and gorges below. Depending on how fast you wish to go, the loop can take as little as 10 min to finish, but you’re welcome to take your time.
Stand still and tune-in to the animals that lay awake at night as red beams of light dart to and fro, scanning for the source of each sound that emanates from a plethora of crannies. Step closer to these organic instruments and marvel at the magnificence of their design, maybe even spotting the wholly surreal Mashpi Torrenteer glass frog, only recently discovered by researchers at the Lodge. Surprises await around every corner!
