At Mashpi Lodge, we promote wellbeing and prosperity. We believe sustainability goes beyond conserving the forest; it also means accompanying, supporting and empowering the communities that protect it.
Since 2021, we’ve been collaborating with the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Guayabillas (ASOMEG in Spanish), a group of visionary women from our neighboring community. ASOMEG was born through the initiative and support of Fundación Futuro as part of a process to strengthen female leadership, foster economic independence, and encourage sustainable land management.
Over the years, the women of ASOMEG have not only developed entrepreneurial and organizational skills, but also built strong networks of solidarity that uplift their entire community. With passion, creativity and commitment, they created their own brand: La Guapa, a line of organic foods made from products grown on local farms.
Mashpi Lodge’s cuisine is inspired by the land that surrounds us. Today, 13% of our menu incorporates local ingredients and La Guapa products, such as artisanal jams and handmade granola. Being one of ASOMEG’s main allies is not only a source of pride, it also reaffirms our commitment to our neighboring communities.
This collaboration enriches our culinary offering, fuels local entrepreneurship, and strengthens the community ties that sustain this ecosystem.

Our collaboration goes far beyond purchasing products. We provide quarterly mentorship sessions through our Executive Chef and Culinary Leadership Team. We’ve also donated equipment to support their production and today we celebrate a new milestone: La Guapa products are now available for purchase in the Mashpi Lodge boutique.
